King City-Monterey football

Friday's game
King City (0-1) at Monterey (0-1) 7:30 p.m.
Will the return of Friday under the portable lights help resurrect the Toreadores? Well, both wins last year came on Saturday afternoon on campus.
The road has been a better place for King City, who after last week's 32-0 loss to Monte Vista, have dropped four straight home games, and is just 3-6 over the last two years in the blue jerseys.
When you lose by 41 points, you look for bright spots. Sophomore Evans Charles showed flashes by tossing two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter for Monterey.
The Mustangs defense played well for a half against Monte Vista, holding them scoreless until there were 23 seconds left.
A concern has to be the fourth quarter, where King City was outscored 13-0. Last season opponents outscored them 93-63 in the fourth.
Both teams struggled in running the ball last week. In the Mustangs case, their defense spent a lot of time on the field, wearing down in the second half.
The Toreadores gave up 398 yards on just 36 plays on offense in their season opener. That does not include the 95-yard kickoff return or 58-yard punt return.
