Notre Dame-Salinas volleyball

Few volleyball matches fill a gym.
 This match is the exception.
Add to the fact that both the Spirits and Salinas are two of the elite teams in the area and the hype soars.
While both are looking up at San Benito in the Gabilan Division, one is going to move ahead tonight when the Cowboys host Notre Dame.
The two-time reigning Central Coast Section Division V champion Spirits are 14-3 overall this fall, with two of those loses coming from San Benito.
While Salinas saw its run of four straight league titles end last year, it kept the Spirits from a share of the title with an epic five-set upset  late in the season.
The Cowboys will attack the net with Taylor Rose and Kathleen Bass feeding off sets from Kamryn Sutton while Isabelle Mandon and Rose have been rocks in the back row.
While graduation stripped Notre Dame of two college bound hitters, the cupboard isn't bare as Julia Scattini and Keona Stopper have been on the assault all season.
Scattini, the teams setter last fall and libero as a sophomore, has compiled 180 kills for Notre Dame, relying on precise sets from Spencer Hagenbuch.
The senior also fills a gab on rotation in the back row along with one of the best defensive players in the county in Mikeila Banda.
Salinas has won eight of the last 10 regular season matches against Notre Dame, including the last five at home.
