Marina-Monterey football

Friday's game
Marina (1-1) at Monterey (0-3), 7:30 p.m.
You have to start with baby steps and for the Toreadores, that was taking their first lead of the season last week.
Granted it was brief as Monte Vista ran off the games next 49 points.
Yet, it is a starting point for a program that had been outscored 76-0 in the first half of its first two games.
Seven turnovers in their last two games has crippled the Toreadores offense.
Marina is coming off a four-turnover effort in beating North County last week, including Ronald Patterson's fumble recovery in the end zone.
A concern for Marina is quarterback Will Leander, who was injured in the second half and didn't return last week.
All-league linebacker Angel Guevara was forced to play quarterback, eventually scoring the game winning touchdown after recovering a fumble to set up the game-winning drive.
Evans Charles has accounted for all five of Monterey's touchdowns, either threw the air or on the ground. Marcus Dorn Jr. has caught touchdown passes in his last two games.
