Seaside-Soledad football

Friday's game
Seaside (0-0) at Soledad (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
Could Seaside be last year's version of Soledad -- a team on the rise, yet still with some unresolved questions coming into the season.
You can make the argument that last year's season opening win over Seaside gave the Aztecs the confidence they needed en route to capturing the programs first league title.
Both teams play with passion, rely on a filthy defense and an offense that can control the ball on the ground.
One of the few teams that was able to contain Seaside tailback Keishawn Robinson last season was Soledad, whose defense is anchored by Andrew Hernandez and Daniel Contawe.
Robinson looked explosive in limited duty at last week's jamboree. Demarcus Hawkins is a load to bring down for the Spartans while quarterback Malik Jeter has big play potential.
Emmanuel Ortega evolved last fall as a sophomore out of the backfield for Soledad, rushing for over 1,000 yards -- most of which came after Week 4.
Soledad dominated first halfs last season, outscoring teams 138-41 -- allowing just two touchdowns in the second quarter in 11 games.
The Spartans failed to produce an offensive touchdown in just one game last year -- you guessed it, against Soledad.
Jeter did return a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown in a 26-6 loss to the Aztecs.
