Pacific Grove-Watsonville football

Friday's game
Pacific Grove (0-0) at Watsonville (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
Over the last three years, the Breakers have gone 31-6 with two Mission Trail Athletic League titles and two section final appearances.
The two common themes is a season opening win over Watsonville and a reigning 1,000 yard rusher in the backfield.
Noah Cryns and his 1,000 plus yards are back for Pacific Grove, but in a different position as he will move behind center and quarterback the team.
With the ball in the hands of arguably the teams best athlete, expect Cryns to run the ball more than your average quarterback.
In last year's season opener, the Wildcatz had a 14-13 halftime lead. Cryns touched the ball twice in the game -- one being a 50-yard touchdown catch.
Don't be mislead by Watsonville's 4-6 record last season. It dropped two games in which it had the lead, falling in the fourth quarter. It lost two other games by a touchdown or less.
And the Wildcatz - who haven't had a winning season since winning a title in 2009 - are coming into the season with a little momentum, having closed last year with a pair of wins.
