North Salinas-Alisal football

Friday's game
North Salinas (0-0) at Alisal (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
The Vikings return to the Gabilan Division this year was met with optimism after an 8-3 campaign, which included a seven game winning streak.
Alisal showed a glimmer of what could be in store this fall after closing last season with two straight wins, knocking one team out of playoff contention.
Tim Burkhardt will look to duplicate last year's effort for North Salinas, in which he either threw or rushed for over 2,100 yards, producing two touchdowns in last year's 27-7 win over Alisal.
The last time Alisal quarterback Raul Garnica tossed an interception came against the Vikings. The three-year starter has not thrown a pick in his last 35 attempts.
Last year the Vikings outscored opponents 88-28 in the third quarter. An Achilles heal for Alisal was the second quarter, where it gave up 70 points.
North Salinas' speed at the skilled positions - led by sprinter Justin Robante - could give the Trojans fits in the open field.
Containment on the edges is critical for Alisal's defense, anchored by returning all league lineman Julio Galeana and Bryan Garcia.
Alisal also has to find a way to keep highly touted defensive lineman Fabian Hunkin from hunting down its quarterback
