Gonzales-Coalinga football

Friday's game
Gonzales (0-1) at Coalinga (0-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Horned Frogs have dropped 12 straight games, a streak that dates back to 2014, after falling in their season opener 28-6 to Wasco.
Gonzales needs to shore up its defense after allowing 54 points and 508 yards in total offense on just 44 plays in its loss to King's Academy.
The Spartans didn't do themselves any favors by turning the ball over five times, four of which led to quick touchdowns for King's Academy
Gonzales went with two quarterbacks last week. It's uncertain if that trend will continue. But Scotter Morales did toss a touchdown pass and rushed for a touchdown.
Better time management on offense is a must. The Spartans ran the ball just 15 times last week -- in part because they were staring at a 21 point deficit in the first quarter.
Dating back to 2010, Gonzales has dropped five consecutive games to opponents outside the Central Coast Section.
Coalinga, which has had four head coaches in the last six years, won the Central Section Division IV title 2011.
