Over the next three days, as many as four local players could get a phone call from a prospective major league baseball team in the June Amateur Draft.
Among them is Monterey senior shortstop Carter Aldrete, who is being projected to go in the top 10 rounds, if teams aren't scared off by his commitment to Arizona State.
Cal's tandem of Nick Halamandaris and Devin Pearson could also see their names called for the second time in four years.
Halamandaris was drafted in the eighth round in 2012 by the Seattle Mariners before electing to go to Cal while Pearson was chosen in the 30th round by Toronto.
Halamandaris, a Stevenson graduate, hit over .300 this spring for Cal while Pearson hit. 275 and was among the nation leaders in hit by pitches.
Pearson is a former two-time Herald Male Athlete of the Year at Carmel.
CSUMB senior first baseman Kevin Davidson broke his own school record this spring for homers with 13. The Otters have had a player drafted or signed the last four years.
