Coaches honored

The California Coaches Association honored Alisal boys soccer coach Mark Cisneros and former Salinas boys basketball coach Joe Chappell last weekend in Fresno.

Cisneros, who guided Alisal to a Gabilan Division title last year and two Central Coast Section Division I titles in the last six years, was named the Northern California Soccer Coach of the Year.
Chappell, who won more boys basketball games in the CCS than any other coach before retiring after 41 years in 2014, was inducted into the California Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
