Stevenson-Carmel softball

The first meeting between these two softball powers served both teams differently.
For Carmel, it was a statement in a 6-2 win. For the Pirates, it was a wake up call.
The win sent a message to the rest of the Mission Trail Athletic League as the first place Padres have  rattled off seven straight league wins.
Stevenson has not lost a game period since being humbled at home, having rattled off six straight wins to remain within one game of the Padres.
Carmel, who hasn't won a league title in 11 years, has relied on the pitching of Danielle Caoili and freshman Jessica Pavloff, allowing just three earned runs during their league winning streak.
Caoili has put up MVP type numbers in the circle and at the plate for Carmel, leading the team in hits, homers and runs batted in,.
Speaking of MVP's, the Padres will face the reigning MTAL co-MVP in New Mexico bound Jensen Main, who is coming off a 13 strikeout effort against Santa Catalina.
Main has won 57 games during her four year career for the Pirates, while leading the team in hits in three of the last four years.
The Pirates lineup has been a little more productive this seasin behind four-year starter Dominique Seva'aetasi and shortstop Ellie Yamashita.
