San Benito-Notre Dame softball

  Perhaps the schedule makers had an inkling down the stretch as Gabilan Division co-leading Notre Dame will face reigning champion San Benito today for first place.
 The two softball powers and defending Central Coast Section Divisional champions sit in a tie at the top with 8-1 records.
 Last month the Balers knocked off Notre Dame 3-1 in Hollister.
 The 15-time CCS Division III champion Spirits have not lost since, as sophomore Vanessa Gonzalez has shutout three of her last five opponents.
 Aly Gomonet, Lauren Pullara and Kaeli Bush have stung the ball at the plate for Notre Dame, with Pullara having driven in 18 runs.
 The Balers have two of the top players in the section in Callee Heen and Suzy Brookshire. As a team San Benito has scored over 170 runs this year.
