Palma-Salinas baseball

While the Chieftains have clinched no worse than a share of the Gabilan Division title, they need to beat Salinas to clinch it outright.
In the teams first two meetings, Palma prevailed 3-1 and 12-0.
But this is still a rivalry game, which gives it significant meaning.
Plus the Cowboys have been playing better of late, having gone 3-2 in its last five games, with wins over playoff bound Monterey, Monte Vista and MTAL champion Carmel.
The Chieftains are on an eight game winning streak, defeating San Benito 4-2 on Tuesday to clinch a share of their second title in three years.
Cooper Smith and Fresno State bound Ryan Jensen are coming off multiple hit games for Salinas, as are Dan Carnazzo and Anthony DeSantis for Palma.
Sophomore Sam Stoutenborough will likely start for Palma on Thursday, possibly against Jensen, who hasn't allowed a run in his last two appearances.
