No. 3 Menlo (21-7) vs. No. 11 Pacific Grove (18-8) at Fremont High, 2 p.m.
 The last time these two teams met in the postseason was during the Breakers magical 2012 campaign when they went 31-0, beating Menlo 10-4 in the title game.
 Pacific Grove has gotten hot at the right time with five straight wins, including a 4-2 decision over No. 6 seed and West Catholic Athlete League opponent Sacred Heart Cathedral.
 Kacee Takasaki is coming off a three-hit effort, in which he doubled twice and tripled, driving in two runs. Sophomore Dylan Dutcher also had two doubles and got the save on Wednesday.
 Runner-ups in the Peninsula Ocean Division, Menlo had little trouble in disposing of Soquel 9-3 in its playoff opener.
 The Knights have actually been a better team away from home this year with a 12-2 record. They are 7-1 in their last eight games.
