No. 4 North Salinas (22-5) vs. No. 1 San Benito (24-3) at the Salinas Sports Complex, 6 p.m.
In two previous battles in the Gabilan Division, one run decided the outcome, with North Salinas prevailing 5-4 on April 26 to keep the Balers from an undefeated league season.
With nine section titles in the last 10 years, San Benito is accustomed to being in this position while the Vikings are in uncharted waters.
In fact, the last time North Salinas was in the semifinals was in 2009.
The Vikings have been on an assault in the postseason, outscoring two teams 24-2 behind the hot bats of sisters Serena and Shayla Castaneda, as well as Alyssa Allen and Micaela Leal.
Leal and Shayla Castaneda have both tossed gems in the circle in two playoff games that lasted just five innings.
The reigning CCS Division I champion Balers opened the postseason with a 13-3 win over Piedmont Hills.
Gabilan MVP Callee Heen is hitting .600 this spring with 15 homers and 46 RBI -- 36 of her 51 hits going for extra bases.
Teammate Brittnee Rossi is hitting .571 with 24 runs batted in while Suzy Brookshire is hitting. 476 with 12 homers and 46 runs batted in.
