The 'lets hope no one gets hurt' Monterey Bay League Masters track meet packages the Gabilan and Pacific Divisions into one today at Gilroy.
Accept the two leagues just competed in their league finals simultaneously on the same Gilroy track last week.
The purpose of this meet is to determine who moves on to the Central Coast Section Trials.
Then again, times and marks from last week could have dictated that.
So instead of athletes with some soreness getting an extra week to gear up like other league qualifiers do, he/she will have to push to insure their seasons continue.
Of course, with no team title on the line for two teams trying to win a championship, athletes have paired down their events to focus solely on the event of choice.
Still, marks seldom drop from the previous week for those with expectations beyond Friday. Meaning there are few changes from the seedings.
At this stage of the season -- now into its fourth month -- the risks outweigh the rewards.
