CSUMB chasing baseball title

The Otters control their destiny going into the final week of the conference season, holding a half-game lead over Chico State in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings.
Sitting a game back is CSU-East Bay, who the Otters face in a four-game series, starting today at 3 p.m. in Hayward.
Two of the four games will be at home for the Otters, including a Saturday doubleheader.
Owners of three straight wins, the nationally ranked Otters (20-13) have scored 35 runs in their last three games, and are 31-14 overall.
Kevin Davidson has tied his single season school home run record with 10. As a team, the Otters have a school record 42. Davidson also leads the team in RBI with 43 while hitting .311.
Seven players are hitting over .300 for head coach Walt White's squad, including Bryan Bostjancis, who has a team high .368 batting average.
Gabe Katich has been the ace of the staff with a 2.29 earned run average, sharing the team lead in wins with Ryan Boydstun with five.
Since rattling off five straight wins to put themselves in title contention, CSU-East Bay is 2-3 in its last five games.
The 31 wins this year for CSUMB is the third most in school history, and one behind last year's mark of 32.
