As a result, CSUMB is in the winners bracket of the NCAA Division II Regionals, where it will face Cal Poly, Pomona tonight at 7 p.m. in Riverside.
The two California Collegiate Athletic Association rivals are familiar with each other, having played three times this season.
After mustering just five runs in dropping the first two games on the road to Cal Poly, Pomona, the Otters erupted for a season high 23 runs to avoid a sweep back on April 3.
Hayden Duer and Kevin Davidson continue to rewrite the single season home run school record, as both blasted their 13th homers on Thursday.
Davidson is one of five players on the Otters hitting over .300 at .317, having driven in a team high 51 runs.
Ironically in that three-game series with Cal Poly, Pomona, the Otters (34-19) hit just one home run among their school record 53.
The Broncos (37-17) are hitting .302 as a team after beating Chico State 11-1, with Jason Padilo and Chris Stratton each hitting .387.
An injury to one of CSUMB's starting pitchers has forced head coach Walt White to turn to his pen, where Drew Kozain will make his first start of the season.
The former MPC hurler has made 20 relief appearances, sporting a 2.08 earned run average. He's 3-2 with two saves.
Jacob Cox has been outstanding in his last two outings out of the bullpen for CSUMB, allowing one run in 6 1 /3 innings with six strikeouts.
Cox entered Thursday's game with a runner in scoring position and promptly struck him out to end the threat, allowing one hit over 3 1/3 innings.
