CCS Open Division baseball playoffs

 Palma's reward for winning the Gabilan Division title was a No. 2 seed and a meeting with No. 15 Mitty today at 4 p.m.
 While the Chieftains have rattled off nine straight wins going into the playoffs, they have dropped  their last eight games to teams from the West Catholic Athletic League.
 Palma and the Monarchs have not faced each other since 2010, with Mitty shutting them out 8-0.
 The Chieftains have seen a different player step up all season as seven different players have had multiple hit games, including seniors Josh Zanger and Matt Smith.
Three-time Pacific Division champion North Salinas was bumped into the Open Division as the No. 8 seed, hosting No. 9 Carlmont.
The Vikings, who are 51-5 in their last three years in the Pacific, are led by hurler Joseph Gutierrez, a three-time all-leaguer.
