Cal baseball combo

Nick Halamandaris and Devin Pearson continue to swing strong bats for the Cal baseball team, improving their draft stock for the June Amateur MLB draft.
Halamandaris is hitting .312 for the Bears with five homers. The left-handed hitting first baseman is second on the team in runs batted in (42) and hits (59). He has also scored 25 runs.
Pearson is hitting .275 with four homers and 28 runs batted in. A three-year starter for the Bears, the senior is among the nations leaders in hit by pitches with 17.
Halamandaris was drafted in the eighth round out of Stevenson four years ago by Seattle while Pearson went in the 30th round in 2012 by Toronto. Both made multiple appearances on The Herald’s All-County baseball team.
Pearson was also a two-time Herald Athlete of the Year at Carmel.
