If any program is going to challenge the Padres and disrupt their record setting season and bid for perfection in the Gabilan Division, it's Christopher.
Perennial title contenders the last two years, the 9-1 Cougars will visit 10-0 Carmel tonight.
Christopher's only league loss came from the Padres, who have set a school record for consecutive wins with 12 and overall wins with 15 this spring.
Since being swept by Carmel, the Cougars have rattled off six straight wins, holding on Tuesday to beat Monterey in five games.
The Padres haven't faced a lot of adversity in league play, having swept seven league opponents. It has been down one set just once in league.
Joseph Curtis has exploded at the net since joining the Padres after an extended basketball season while Keegan Forrester has provided strength in the front row.
Setter Ezra Delbick is closing in on a school record 500 assists while Tyler Boylan leads the team in digs and service aces.
A playoff berth could also be at stake. The runner-up in the Gabilan Division has to face the Pacific Division champion for an automatic spot in the postseason.
