Bill Kearney Invite

Over 30 schools and 1,000 athletes will look for peak performances on Saturday at the 27th annual Bill Kearney track and field invitational at Hartnell College.
Hosting by Salinas High, the meet is a chance for athletes to improve their marks as the league finals are three weeks off.
Two of the top throwers in the shot put in the Central Coast Section will renew their rivalry in King City's Jarod Davis and Soledad's Daniel Contawe. Davis has a best of 51-5 1/2.
The CCS's No. 2 ranked discus thrower will look to take advantage of Salinas' prevailing winds as Manuel Gallardo of North County has a best of 155-6.
King City's Roman Munoz and North Salinas' Raul Barraza will get reacquainted on the track in the 800 as both dipped under 1:59.0 two weeks ago.
Munoz, a CCS DIV cross country champion last fall, is also ranked in the top five in the section in the 1,600 at 4:22.0.
Salinas' D'Vina Brown, a section finalist last spring in the discus, will go in as the favorite at 127-8 while Kate Riordan of Notre Dame is among four 400 meter runners under 60 seconds.
Kevin Telford is among the elite in the 400 for Palma while Drew Dalman will look to match throws with Gallardo in the discus at 146-8.
The girls discus will open the meet at 8:30 a.m., with running events slated to begin at 10 a.m.
