CSUMB men's hoops

California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament
Tuesday's game
No. 5 CSUMB at No. 4 Humboldt State, 7 p.m.
The Otters are riding into the CCAA tournament as hot as any team in the conference, closing the season with three straight wins to record their first winning season since 2008.
That's also the last time CSUMB took part in the conference tournament, falling to CSU-Dominguez Hills.
CSUMB (14-12, 12-8) fell 87-76  in its only meeting with Humboldt State on the road on Feb. 13. It hasn't lost a game since.
The Otters were only down by three at the half, but shot just 36 percent from the field in the second half while Humboldt State sizzled at 53 percent.
Ryan Nitz has had a big year for CSUMB, averaging a team high 19.3 points a game, including 24 in that loss to the Lumberjacks.
Evan Zeller has quietly buried 65 3-point goals for the Otters while Alex Fertig is dropping in just under 12 points a game while leading the team in assists.
Among CSUMB's signature road wins this year was a 77-60 win at Division I Utah State. Since starting the year 0-5, CSUMB is 14-7.
