No. 5 Carmel (22-4) vs. No. 1 Sacred Heart Prep (15-10) at Kaiser Arena, Santa Cruz, 5:30 p.m.
Do not be mislead by the Gators overall record. A portion of this team was missing in December because of an extended football season.
Sacred Heart Prep shared the West Bay League title with Pinewood at 12-2. One of its league losses however, was to King's Academy, who Carmel just knocked out of the Division IV playoffs.
Two-time Mission Trail Athletic League Most Valuable Player John Stivers may be having his best season of his four year career, averaging 20 plus points and 13 rebounds a game.
The 6-foot-4 Harvard bound tight end has been to the free throw line a career high 161 times, hitting 128.
Teammate Dylan Riley has helped from a dynamic duo in the paint with his 6-5 frame, while leading the Padres in 3-point goals, while Marco Giangiorgi had two 3's in the win over King's Academy.
Three-sport standout Mason Randall, who quarterbacked the Gators to a state title two years ago, is averaging a team high 16.1 points and 4.2 assists a game.
