Salinas-Alisal girls hoops

One thing the CCS attempts to do in the first round of an over saturated postseason is lump local teams against each other to provide more interest.
Yet, if I'm Salinas, I don't want to play Pacific Division champion Alisal a third time this year -- at Alisal again.
Granted the Cowboys won both non-league games -- including a 53-50 season opening thriller.
Still, beating a team three times in the same season is difficult, particularly a team that is clearly a different unit then it was in December.
While Salinas was seeded, Alisal got the home game because it won a league title -- its first in 11 years behind Lydia Garcia and Karley Apodaca.
The pair have become the most prolific scoring duo in Alisal history, averaging just over 40 points a game between them in league play.
Salinas scored 40 or more points in just four Gabilan Division games, going 3-1 in those games. It has relied on defense this year, having held 12 teams under 40 points.
