Last year just two teams reached the postseason from the Pacific Division. But in 2014, four teams got into the dance.
Which means Alvarez is still clinging to hope that it can extend its playoff streak of for consecutive appearances. Yet, for that to occur, it will have to win its final two games to reach the .500 mark in league.
The Eagles have dropped three of their last four games. They also fell 46-43 at home to Seaside on Jan. 22.
Seaside, meanwhile, is not a lock to make the playoffs, despite holding a one-game lead for second place over Gilroy.
The Spartans have had a resurgence this year at 7-3 in the Pacific, having gone 6-2 in their last eight games. However, they are just 10-11 overall.
In fact, only league champion Alisal and Gilroy have .500 or better overall records, which could hurt the league's chances of getting more than two teams into the playoffs.
