Stevenson (19-9, 10-4)
No team made a bigger impression in the second half of last season than the Pirates, who went 12-2 down the stretch to reach the State Northern California Division V tournament.
It won't be difficult to build off of last year's momentum as eight players have returned, including a pair of starters from last seasons 19 win team.
One thing Stevenson did well last winter was shoot from the outside, knocking down over 200 shots from beyond the 3-point arc -- 89 of which came from junior Parker Olin.
The 6-foot-3 sharpshooter, who averaged just under 15 points a game last year, spent the off-season honing his overall game, as he will have a bigger role this winter.
Stevenson started two sophomores last year in Kenny Pich, who showed flashes of his potential as a third option, averaging 8.8 points a game.
Keep an eye on sophomore guard Winston Elstob, one of three sophomores head coach Matt Arruda brought up this year, with the thought of contributing immediately.
Arruda had five sophomores and two freshmen on last year's roster, including Will Lansbury, who provided quality minutes off the bench.
While the Pirates lost over 50 percent of their offense to graduation, triggering last year's second half turnaround was a tenacious defense that held eight teams under 45 points.
Stevenson will have to fill some gaps in the paint after losing its top two rebounders to graduation. It does, however, returns 6-foot-5 sophomore Kevin Cook.
