Two teams that put together impressive numbers in the non-league season are looking to regain that formula two weeks into the Gabilan Division season.
After an 8-3 preseason, the Spartans are 0-3 in the Gabilan Division, having struggled offensively while Salinas has dropped its last two league games after going 7-3 in non-league play.
Seaside has been in a collective team scoring slump for the last seven games, having been held under 40 points five times.
Freshman Jordan Olivares is no longer a secret for Seaside after averaging nearly 18 points a game in non-league play. Marielle Tuazon and Alonis Ingram are other options.
The Cowboys, who fell 44-43 to San Benito on Tuesday, have held five teams under 30 points this season. A holdover from last year's playoff team for Salinas is junior Kathleen Bass.
Both teams suffered humbling league losses by similar scores to power Monte Vista.
