Salinas girls soccer

No one was satisfied with the programs first league title and undefeated league season last winter.
 One playoff win wasn't enough.
In other words, resting on its laurels wasn't an option. Salinas has come back even stronger this year.
Quietly the defending Gabilan Division champions are undefeated in their last 15 league games, heading into Wednesday's meeting at Monte Vista.
In an effort to take that next step, the Cowboys put together a non-league schedule that included a  2-1 loss to WCAL power Valley Christian, who is 9-0 this year.
Salinas coach Ralph Bozzo also took his team to a high caliber tournament outside the CCS in Santa Barbara, where the squad went 2-1.
Since dropping its first two non-league games, Salinas is 7-1, with the one loss coming from 6-1-1 San Marcos of San Diego.
During that stretch, a tenacious Cowboy defense has allowed just six goals with goalie Sophia Tellez recording three shutouts between the pipes.
A balanced scoring attack has seen five different players produce two or more goals for Salinas, with Brooke Oleson having scored six and Valeria Tellez and Taylor Burbank four apiece.
Tellez, who has 30 goals in her career at Salinas, has also been a distributor with four assists along with Kimi Chin and Brittany Tibbs.
Depth is the teams strength. Only five of the 19 players are seniors.
