 Perhaps the way last year ended served as incentive for the Breakers this season.
 Falling in the season finale forced a co-championship in the Mission Trail Athletic League. Perhaps  being ousted in the first round of the playoffs has fueled this year's fire?
 If the 4-0 start to the MTAL season doesn't get your attention, how about outscoring opponents 22-1 in league play?
 The core from last year's 8-3-3 co-championship team is back with vengeance, including all-leaguer Ashley Aguilera.
 Aguilera has been a distributor this winter as Jada Ware has nine goals in four league games while Vanessa Barragan has four.
 Pacific Grove, which scored 31 goals in 18 matches last year, has 29 in seven overall games this season.
 Defensively, goalie Kylie Koestner has been sensational between the pipes with five shutouts and 23 saves, holding reigning co-champion Greenfield scoreless last week.
 Looming Thursday is a meeting with undefeated Soledad at home. But not before rival Carmel visits on Tuesday.
