If Notre Dame is going to make a move in defending its Pacific Division title, it has to start tonight when it begins the second half of the season, hosting co-leading North County.
The Spirits sit two games behind North County and Alisal with six to play. Two of their three league losses have come from those teams, including a league opening 18-point loss to the Condors.
Katie Zernicke and Kate Lathos are both coming off double-digits efforts for Notre Dame, with the 5-foot-5 Zernicke leading the team in scoring.
The Condors have rattled off a season high four straight wins behind Amanda Torrez, who has eight games with 10 or more points.
Contributions have come up and down the North County lineup as Allie Bertao, Jocelyn Cazarez and Cassady Healy have given the team other scoring options.
Defense, though, has triggered North County's surge to the top. During its four-game winning streak, opponents are averaging 34 points a game against them.
