Alvarez-Alisal boys soccer

The battles between these two soccer giants have been epic since becoming league rivals.
Three years ago it took a sudden death shootout in the Central Coast Section Division I semifinals to settle the outcome, in which Alisal salvaged the win en route to a CCS title.
While Alisal won the first meeting this year 4-2, the teams have split two games and tied two others over the last two seasons.
The Eagles haven't dropped a game since that setback to Alisal on Jan. 5, stretching their unbeaten streak to five games -- albeit the last three have ended in ties.
Ties have been a common theme for both teams as the Trojans and Alvarez have played a combine five draws, with both tying reigning Gabilan Division champion Watsonville earlier this month.
Jorge Cerna and Adrian Serrato have combined for 15 goals this winter for Alisal, with Serrato adding five assists.
A goal from Omar Bravo enabled Alvarez to play Watsonville to a tie in their last meeting. The Eagles have relied on a tenacious defense all season.
