Seaside-Carmel boys hoops

While the Spartans are searching for chemistry on the court with a new lineup, Carmel is still getting reacquainted with each other.
 A majority of the team missed the first four weeks of the season because of an extended football run. As a result, the Padres have had just six full practices.
 What is known about Carmel is it has size in the paint and four-year starter John Stivers, who has two MTAL MVP honors and a Player of the Year award to his resume.
 The 6-foot-4 Stivers has been a double-double machine for the Padres, who will have a significant size advantage over the smaller, but quicker Spartans.
  Seaside is relying on its defense to generate offense this season.
