State cross country

Roman Munoz and Ricardo Lizardi are returning to the site of arguably the greatest boys team achievement in King City sports history.
This time, though, the two distance aces are going as individuals Saturday at the State cross country championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Last year Munoz and Lizardi were a part of King City's state Division IV runner-up team. Earlier this month, Munoz defended his Central Coast Section title and won the MTAL title.
Making a return trip to the state meet in the girls Division IV championships is Greenfield's Jocelyn Sosa. She's not alone as MTAL champion and teammate Evelin Meza is joining her.
Qualifiers in the girls Division V finals include a pair of Santa Catalina runners in Audrey Bennett, Kimmy Villegas and Jessica Gutshall.
Soledad will be represented in the Division III boys and girls finals as Yvette Tavarez qualified in the girls division and Jesus Rodriguez in the boys.
MTAL team champion Greenfield is going as a unit in Division IV for the first time in school history after placing third at the CCS finals.
Anchoring the unit are seniors Jaime Garcia and Raul Figueroa. Rounding out the elite squad include Jaime Martinez, Julian Arias, Luis Perez, Rigo Garcia and Luis Meza.
Freshman Tommy Padilla became the first Palma distance runner to qualify for the state meet in six years in Division IV.
York School will be represented by senior Ryan Ixtlahuac in Division V along with Anzar's Angel Garcia. San Benito's Elijah Changco qualified in Division I.
