Scotts Valley-Pacific Grove football

Friday's game
Central Coast Section Division V semifinals
Scotts Valley (8-3) at Pacific Grove, (9-2), 7 p.m.
Since an 0-2 start, the Falcons have gone 8-1, having outscored opponents 94-21 in the first quarter this fall.
The concern for Pacific Grove this week is the health of Noah Cryns, who left the game in the fourth quarter last week with an unspecific injury.
Cryns, who has rushed for over 100 yards in four of his last five games, spent most of the game in the 'Wildcat' formation for the Breakers during last week's 17-13 win over Capuchino.
The junior has rushed for nearly 1,000 yards this season, having produced 15 touchdowns. He also has four interceptions on defense.
Quarterback Nick Reyes has tossed 17 touchdown passes for Scotts Valley while Tony Menna has rushed for nearly 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Yet, it was Trevor Ponos, who turned a few heads in the teams playoff opener, rushing for 102 yards  in a win over Menlo. The junior also has returned two kickoffs for touchdowns this year.
Pacific Grove has recorded 26 sacks this year, nine from Foster Smith. Linebacker Uche Ebo could see more time in the backfield if Cryns is unable to play.
A common opponent is Carmel, who put up 34 points in beating Pacific Grove and 32 in a win over Scotts Valley.
