After 10 straight games, the Cowboys finally have their bye week prior to the playoffs.
Of course, sitting on a loss for two weeks never feels good.
Yet, Salinas needs a breather.
Bound for the postseason for the eighth straight year, the Cowboys dropped two of their final three games.
Granted, the two setbacks came from programs a combined 16-2 this year.
Yet, you can make the argument that turnovers and mental mistakes in the fourth quarter cost them both games.
It's difficult to play at a high level for 10 straight weeks. Seven of the teams Salinas faced this year are headed to the postseason.
Which is why several teams prefer having a bye somewhere in the middle of the season.
It recharges the batteries.
Then again, getting a second wind just before the start of the postseason can provide a momentum boast.
