Next man up.
It's been that way all year in an injury riddled season for the Gabilan Division champions.
This time it was Kevin Telford's turn, the third string running back, who was called into service after Jarod Torculas injured his shoulder in the first half.
Telford responded behind that offensive line led by Drew Dalman and Zach Ralston by rushing for two touchdowns in Palma's 38-22 win over Alvarez.
At some point, injuries do catch up with you. Over 1,500 rushing yards was out of the lineup last Friday in Emilio Martinez and Torculas.
Palma has lost seven different starters at points during the season.
Torculas' status for next weeks postseason opener is in question. It is the hope that Martinez will be close to full strength after missing four games with a hamstring injury.
Palma coach Jeff Carnazzo said he's never seen anything like this in his 16 years as the Chieftains head coach.
In the meantime, the Chieftains front five in the trenches continue to open holes and provide pass protection for Jack Richardson, who tossed three more touchdown passes.
Nearly half of Richardson's touchdowns have gone to Isaiah Blanco, an unheralded receiver that is turning into one of the more productive wide receivers in the area.
While depth is a nice thing to rely on, you want to be at full strength in the playoffs. That's not going to happen for the Chieftains.
