Friday's game
Pacific Grove (7-1) at Greenfield (2-6), 7:30 p.m.
You don't want to get into a close game with the Bruins, who are 2-0 in games decided by a field goal or less.
The defending Mission Trail Athletic League champions have seen their offense come to life in the last two games, despite injuries at the skilled positions.
Noah Cryns has been on a different planet for Pacific Grove, having rushed for 385 yards in his last two games while accounting for seven touchdowns.
Cryns has been a difference maker on both sides of the ball, picking off two passes last week that shut down King City in the second half.
Defense has been the Breakers pillar of strength all season. Foster Smith and Robert Wilkerson have combined for 15 sacks inside while James Donlon is coming off the edge with 6 1/2 sacks.
Pacific Grove appears to be gaining momentum down the stretch. A win Friday clinches no worse than a share of its second straight MTAL title.
