Wednesday's game
Central Coast Section Semifinals
No. 4 North Salinas (13-4-0) vs. No. 1 Mitty (12-1-5) at Del Mar High, San Jose, 4:30 p.m.
This is uncharted waters for the Monterey Bay League champion Vikings, who have never reached this plateau in the postseason.
Meanwhile, Mitty has won six Central Coast Section titles, the last coming in 2012. It has fallen in the finals the last two years.
After a 1-4 start, North Salinas has rattled off 12 straight wins, including a 2-1 sudden death shootout win last Saturday over St. Ignatius.
During their run, the Vikings have outscored the opposition 84-2 -- with Sofia Cuentas recording 10 shutouts in goal.
Alexa Sanchez has a team high 24 goals to go along with 13 assists for North Salinas. Samantha Vargas has 17 goals while Danae Snell has compiled 15 goals and a team high 20 assists.
Mitty, who won the Blossom Valley Mount Hamilton Division, does not have a loss to a team in the CCS this fall, having fallen to state power Scripts Ranch 2-1 in October.
