North Salinas-Aptos football

Friday's game
Central Coast Section Division IV semifinals
North Salinas (9-2) at Aptos (7-4), 7 p.m.
Take away opponents outside the Central Coast Section and Aptos has put together a dynasty of sorts in its quest for a third straight section title.
Over the last four years, the Mariners are 40-4 against teams in the CCS, with three of those setbacks coming from opponents from the West Catholic Athletic League.
Owners of five straight Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League titles, Aptos has rushed for nearly 2,800 yards this season -- with no running back over 700 yards.
North Salinas has experience in facing teams that run the Wing-T, having played four opponents this year with success.
The Pacific Division champions come into the semifinal showdown having won seven consecutive  games, including a 34-13 win over Santa Clara in their postseason opener.
Quarterback Tim Burkhardt had a hand in four touchdowns last week. The junior has either thrown or rushed for 26 touchdowns this fall.
The Vikings defense has been filthy during their seven-game winning streak, allowing just 10 points a game. There are a number of playmakers on this unit, anchored by linebacker Armando Armenta.
Fabian Hunkin has been a beast in the trenches for North Salinas with Jacob Perez coming off the edge for six sacks this season. JoJo Guzman has four of the teams 18 interceptions.
