Five straight losses will sink a lot of ships.
Not the Mariners.
If their confidence had been rattled during the drought, head coach Vernon Calhoun didn't notice.
Faith was restored at Marina.
An argument can be made that this is the Mariners biggest win in its five years.
Not only did Marina snap its five-game skid, but it knocked Gonzales out of the playoff picture. In other words, this game had implications and significant meaning.
This is a win that Marina can build off of going into next season.
It went on the road and beat a team that controlled its playoff fate. It won a game in dramatic fashion with EJ Jennings intercepting a pass late in the game to preserve a 22-20 win.
No one has questioned Marina's work ethics. Progress has been made. Putting in the off-season work is the next step for this program to climb up the ladder.
