In the postseason for the 34th time in 35 years, the Mustangs are 25 years removed from competing for a State Division II volleyball title in 1990.
The one link to then and now is head coach Debbie Hudson, who continues to produce playoff teams with seasonal volleyball players.
The Tigers won the Peninsula Ocean Division with a 14-0 record. Four of their eight overall losses, though, have come at home during the non-league season.
Marlene Morales and Grace Shepherd have taken turns leading the Mustangs in kills this fall with Natalie Robinson and Aly Carroll being contributors at the net.
Getting the ball back to setter Maria Deniz is critical in the flow of the offense for King City, where A.J. Matos and Morales float around in the back row.
