Wednesday's game
Division IV
No.7 Carmel (24-8) at No. 10 Harbor (9-21), 7 p.m.
The Pirates got hot at the right time, winning the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League tournament title to gather a share of the league title and a home match in the postseason.
Carmel and Harbor met once this year in a tournament in September with the Padres sweeping them in two games. The two teams faced each other in the 2008 playoffs with Harbor winning 3-1.
Making their eighth straight playoff appearance, the Padres are led by Megan Gonzalez, who has 426 assists and 304 kills.
Gonzalez has run a two-set offense along with Alex Weber. Hana Nystrom and Chantel Waite both have over 150 kills this fall with Lauren Salvati and Madi Lombardi compiling over 200 digs.
Carmel has won 16 of its last 18 matches, with the two setbacks coming in five games while on the road.
While the Padres have won their last two postseason openers, they have dropped four consecutive playoff road matches.
