Aragon-Palma football

Friday's game
Central Coast Section Open Division III playoffs
Aragon (5-5) vs. Palma (9-1) at Rabobank, 8 p.m.
Injuries to eight different starters during the season has not derailed the Gabilan Division champion Chieftains, who have rattled off eight straight wins.
Quarterback Jack Richardson, who has already rewritten the school career passing record for yards and touchdowns, has thrown for 1,901 yards and 17 scoring strikes this year.
What has helped is a running game having accounted for nearly 2,000 yards. However, over 1,500 of those yards are injured right now. Jarod Torculas is out with a separated shoulder.
Palma head coach Jeff Carnazzo said Emilio Martinez, who has missed four games with a hamstring injury, will be a game time decision. Kevin Telford stepped in and rushed for 102 yards last week.
After a 4-1 non-league start, Aragon struggled in the Peninsula Bay Division, which includes Sacred Heart Prep, Burlingame, Terra Nova and Menlo-Atherton.
The Dons are going to air it out as quarterback Tanner Nguyen has thrown for  2,501 yards and 16 touchdowns. Davion Cox and Gabe Campos have combined for 85 catches.
Aragon has given up 97 points in its last two games. It did post two shutouts to open the season. The Chieftains have five players with two picks, including Stan Smith, who had two in 22 seconds.
Angel Maldonado and Drew Dalman have been demons on defense while Zach Berry is the heart of the linebacking core.
