Soledad-Gonzales football

Friday's game
Soledad (2-2) at Gonzales (3-1), 7:30 p.m.
Both teams are likely doing some sole searching this week.
Gonzales, which gave up just one touchdown in three non-league wins, was torched for 37 points -- in the first quarter last week at Carmel.
Soledad's offense couldn't find the end zone for the second time this year in a setback to defending MTAL champion Pacific Grove.
The Aztecs defense, anchored by Andrew Hernandez, has produced two touchdowns this year while special teams has accounted for one.
Behind quarterback Logan Gomez, Gonzales has been impressive in the second quarter, outscoring teams 62-17. The Aztecs have not allowed a point in the second quarter.
Gomez has thrown for nearly 800 yards this season and six touchdowns, with Fabian Acosta on the receiving end of three of those scoring strikes.
Soledad has won the last six meetings between the two south county rivals, averaging 43.1 points a game.
