Two losing seasons in the last 15 years have been followed up by a league championship for the Spartans.
Is a third on the horizon?
Coming off a one-win season last fall, Seaside has won five games this year. More importantly, it is 3-1 in the Pacific Division.
Its next battle is its biggest as it faces 3-0 North Salinas on Friday -- the only team it beat last year.
While a strong sophomore class has helped recharge the Spartans, the resurgence has been a process over the first eight weeks of the season.
There were growing pains in Week's 4 and 5, a maturation process in the words of head coach Al Avila.
He didn't talk about the seven injured starters until after Week 5.
The last three weeks the Spartans have relied on a punishing defense to shut down opponents.
While the offense remains a work in progress, Seaside has had moments where it makes its presence felt.
Perhaps that promising future Avila has talked about has arrived early.
