San Benito-Salinas football

Friday's game
San Benito (3-1) at Salinas (2-2), 7:30 p.m.
There are very few secrets when you've faced a team five times in the last three years.
Salinas has won the last three regular season meetings between the two rivals. Yet, the Balers have gained a measure of redemption in the postseason.
Two years ago San Benito beat Salinas in the CCS DI semifinals en route to a title. And last year it defeated them 14-7 in the championship game.
Both teams come into their Gabilan Division opener on their heels after Salinas was beaten 40-6 by Milpitas and the Balers were handed a 34-14 setback by Wilcox.
Tailback Hunter Nye has evolved into one of the premier backs in the area, compiling four straight 100 plus yard rushing efforts for San Benito, totaling 624 rushing yards.
San Benito is a traditional power team that likes to grind and chew the clock, turning to its defense to shut down opponents.
It has had lapses in the second quarter this year, having been outscored 42-28.
Last week served as a wake-up call for the Gabilan Division co-champion Cowboys, who are aiming for an eighth straight postseason appearance.
Salinas has struggled moving the ball on the ground. Teams are putting an emphasis on containing quarterback Matt Castaneda, who has accounted for 10 of teams 14 offensive touchdowns.
Ryan Jensen, who committed to Fresno State this week on a baseball scholarship, has a special teams touchdown on a fake punt for Salinas and has two touchdown catches this fall
