San Benito-Notre Dame volleyball

Tuesday's game
San Benito (24-3) at Notre Dame (21-3), 6:30 p.m.
Two powers, with few weaknesses, getting reacquainted with perfection and potentially a title at stake.
Easily the biggest match of the season.
The Balers are unbeaten in the Gabilan Division, having rattled off 17 straight wins. Included in that streak was a decision over Notre Dame in four games in Hollister.
Now comes the rematch in Salinas.
If Notre Dame hasn't had this match circled since that first battle on Oct. 1, it's been in the back of its minds.
Redemption is not all that's at stake.
A potential share of the title with San Benito is on the line, as well as momentum going into the CCS divisional playoffs.
All four games were epic battles in the first match. If you need a reminder, it was 24-26, 26-24, 28-26, 26-24.
The Spirits come at you at the net with Nikki DeSerpa and Kate Lathos on the outside and Adeline Laughton in the middle, all feeding off sets from Julia Scattini.
San Benito counters with Lauren Sabbatini and Marisa Villegas, who combined for 31 kills in that first match. Villegas, a state meet qualifier in track in the 1,600 last spring, also had 25 digs.
Defense triggers the offense and both teams have dynamic defensive specialists in Noel Chavarria of San Benito and the Spirits Mikeila Banda.
Essentially four points separated these two teams in the first meeting.
