Salinas football

 It went virtually unannounced.
In part, because that's how Salinas coach Steve Goodbody wanted it.
Oh, his players had an inkling about it before Friday's game with Christopher. So did his coaches.
And now so does the rest of the community.
Goodbody became Salinas' winningest football coach with his 60th career win.
Now in his 10th year at Salinas, Goodbody has guided the Cowboys to seven straight postseason appearances, one league title and one section final appearance.
Goodbody preferred to call it a team record rather than an individual achievement.
At 4-2, Goodbody has equaled his best start through six games. Salinas, who visits Monterey next Saturday, has never started 5-2.
Goodbody is the third longest tenured head coach in Monterey County behind Seaside's Al Avila and Palma's Jeff Carnazzo.
