Salinas football

I don't know if you would call it redemption for Salinas as much as an expectation.
Sure, there is some satisfaction in beating San Benito after falling in last year's Central Coast Section  Division I finals.
Yet, Salinas has made a habit out of beating the Balers in the regular season.
If you're counting, that's four straight league wins over San Benito.
This one was impressive as the Cowboys put up 39 points in a 23-point decision. The previous two regular season meetings were decided by six and two points.
Then again, this was a one-point game in the fourth quarter before Salinas rattled off 22 unanswered points. Ryan Jensen was on a different planet, catching three touchdown passes.
 True, it's only October.
But if only Salinas could bottle this potion it has for beating the Balers.
Because another big rival awaits in three weeks. And that's a door Salinas hasn't been able to kick down since 2002.
