Friday's game
Pajaro Valley (3-1) at Seaside (2-3), 7:30 p.m.
After such an emotional overtime win three weeks ago over Monterey, the Spartans have been flat in their last two games. The result has seen them outscored 81-21.
A bright spot for Seaside has been tailback Keishawn Robinson, who has rushed for over 500 yards. But defenses are honing in on him and daring someone else to beat them.
Pajaro Valley, who is 3-48 in league play since it began fielding a program in 2006, was humbled by Alisal last week after a promising 3-0 non-league start.
The Grizzlies were missing quarterback Jesus Hernandez in last week's defeat. The senior has a team high 278 rushing yards and five touchdowns, and hasn't thrown a pick in 43 attempts.
Opponents are going to stack the box and dare Seaside to throw. Plus Robinson is a game breaker if he gets in the open field. But three-and-outs are going to wear down any defense.
